Ark Evelyn Grace Academy was buzzing with excitement as Mobo award winning South London rap duo and entrepreneurs Krept and Konan joined forces with the Mayor of Lambeth, Councillor John-Paul Ennis, as special guests at an inspiring assembly aimed at motivating students to become future leaders in their communities.
During the assembly, students were asked to reflect on what next steps they can take towards their goals.
Students also learnt about the importance of mindset and motivation.
Lambeth Mayor Councillor John-Paul Ennis, the youngest Mayor in Lambeth’s history at 27-years-old, highlighted the importance of leadership, ambition, and community impact.
"Each and every one of you have power, it’s up to you how you use it,” he said.
The special assembly was a timely reminder and morale boost for the 400+ students, particularly with mock examinations currently underway for Year 11.
The assembly also reinforced Ark Evelyn Grace Academy’s commitment to empowering students to be the voice of their future by giving them direct access to influential figures who make positive contributions to our community.
Ark Evelyn Grace Academy’s Principal, Una Sookun said, "I’m pleased that our students got the opportunity to hear from successful individuals who come from the local area and embody our school values: ambition, professionalism, perseverance, integrity and community.”
Students left the assembly feeling motivated, with many eager to take steps towards their own aspirations.
After the assembly, select star students nominated by staff had the opportunity to meet and talk with the Lambeth Mayor, speaker Richard Asomugha and Krept and Konan, with some industrious students taking the opportunity to showcase their musical talents.
