U16’s Basketball Team come 2nd in the Dynamik National Finals

Monday 08 May 2017

Following the success of being crowned London Youth Games champions back in March, the U16’s Deng Academy Basketball Team qualified for the Dynamik National Finals which took place at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester this weekend.

In their semi-final they came up against Durham Johnstone School, who they managed to beat with an impressive score of 71-44, enhancing them to final against Northampton School for Boys.

After a tense game, and going into the 4th and final quarter level at 59-59, the Deng Academy boys narrowly lost out on the title losing with a score of 83-75.

Year 11 Leon Neziri was named MVP after scoring a highly impressive 53pts in a losing effort! Considering none of these students had picked up a basketball before joining us at EGA, to make a NATIONAL sporting final 4 years later is very impressive and their effort must be commended.

Credit must be given to their fantastic Deng Academy coaches Ronnie Baker and Lewis Gabriele who dedicate a huge amount of time before and after school coaching our students.

Well done Team!
