Lambeth Summer Activities
1st July 2020
Dear Parents and Carers
Lambeth Summer Activities Programme
As you will appreciate, the Summer Activities programme in Lambeth will be different this year due to the coronavirus situation. On the next page we have included the first draft of this year's programme which has been sent out to schools.
Youth organisations are working hard to finalise their plans for the summer in line with government guidance. All these organisations are working on plans for face-to-face and group activities in a safe, clean and socially distanced way. They are also planning online alternatives if infections rise and government guidance changes. Our main priority is to look after the health of children, young people and their families but all organisations and those who participate, take part at their own risk and must follow the rules and measures given by each organisation. If families have older members at home or those with underlying health conditions, we advise you to be extra cautious.
All provisions are expected to be inclusive to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. The details on the next page indicate which organisations are specialists in this area.
If you wish your child to take part in a summer activity, I suggest contacting organisations as soon as possible, using the email addresses shown, to find out what their plans are and how you can book your child onto their activities.
Please be aware that activities might change at any time as organisations are currently attempting to book venues, employ sessional staff, update health and safety arrangements, publicise their activities and arrange cleaning routines. This year, many more organisations will be providing food and we encourage you to get in touch with your local youth organisations about this provision.
Lambeth is currently compiling a summer website which will hold details of all the summer activities once it goes live. There are limited spaces, so we would recommend that you contact providers as soon as possible if you want your child to attend any of these activities, rather than waiting for the website to be completed.
We wish you a healthy and happy summer and look forward to welcoming all our students back to school in September.
Mr Tim Dainty
