Thursday 17 September 2020

It's been wonderful to welcome back our students. Our students have returned to school with fresh and positive attitudes to their education.

Here are some of the highlights from our first week back at school:

Year 7

A warm welcome to all our Year 7 students, who have adapted and settled in well, into our school community.

My first week

By Lovayah, 7Nightingale

My first week at Evelyn Grace Academy has been so fun! It has been fun meeting so many teachers, especially teachers like Mr Hall (Form Tutor, PE teacher), who is one of my favourites; and Mr King (Maths Teacher), he is an expert at Maths! He made Maths enjoyable. I learnt a lot of Maths this week.

I have also enjoyed meeting and making so many new friends. My favourite part of each day is having lunch and communicating with others.

I am really looking forward to doing more lessons, learning and finding out what house I am in!

Year 11

It has been a great start to school for our Year 11s. They have began their studies with the Work Related Learning Programme by Spiral. Our students have been really engaged and have shown great team-working skills.

My First Week

Since arriving back at school, I first found myself facing many emotions, from anxiety to nervousness. I can now say that after settling I find myself being very comfortable and I am glad to be back, having a routine and a properly structured day. It has been very exciting to meet all my teachers and great to know all the new members of staff.

Although there are many new features and routines in place I feel as though I am adjusting very well, and I am very comfortable and confident to follow the new procedures that have been put in place to ensure that we are always safe. It is amazing to be back in a learning environment and I am eager to see what is to come. I believe that starting off my first week with work related learning has had a great impact on me. For the last few months I have been working independently so I found it very beneficial to kick start this new journey partaking in various group related activities, reminding me of the importance of teamwork.

I would say that this entire experience has been quite surreal, it has been a process of growth and development. Post lockdown I would say that I have matured a lot and I am ready to take on any challenges that may come my way.

At Ark Evelyn Grace Academy outstanding achievement, behaviour, attendance and punctuality is our aim for every student. Our student attendance target is 100%.

Every lesson counts and it is this commitment to learning that will have a positive effect on every child’s learning. All students are required to attend school every day and on time.
