2019 Spelling Bee - Key Stage 3 highlights
On Thursday 17th October 2019, excitement filled the atmosphere here at Evelyn Grace Academy as our key stage 3 students took to stage to compete in this years spelling bee competition.
This year's contestants including:
|House||Year 7||Year 8||Year 9|
|Brandon Shurriah Smith
Our students had so much fun. Every house behaved implacably and were so confident spelling extremely difficult words such as pseudonym and miscellaneous.
Windrush and Effra house found themselves at the bottom during the first round and went head to head in a 'word off' challenege.
During the second round, Brockwell, Ashby and Windrush went against each other with Ashby still leading the way.
Chelsea George in Year 7 amazed everyone including Mr Dainty (Principal) and Mr Jones (Executive Principal) with her spelling making Ashby House finish on top once again whereby Windrush was eliminated.
As a result, Brockwell and Ashby were in the final in which things took a turnaround for Ashby as Brockwell House’s star Renae Nelson scored every single point in the Year 8 head to head putting Ashby House in danger of losing the trophy.
The final round was the most exciting as it required our spellers to press the buzzer and to no longer use their white boards to spell the words. In the end, Reality Morrison stole the show and spelt every single one of the words correctly securing Ashby House the first ever KS3 House Spelling Bee trophy with the word EUPHORIC!
Congratulations to Ashby house! and well done to all who took part.
