Micah Dolphy, Year 11 debuts No1 Bestseller - 'Poetic Surds'
We are delighted to announce that our very own Micah Dolphy releases her first book entitled ‘Poetic Surds’. ‘Poetic Surds’, is a collection of poems written by 15-year-old Micah in tribute of her late father.
She is currently the No1 best seller in Women’s Fiction, No2 best seller in Women’s Poetry on Amazon; and Conscious Dreams Publishing’s youngest author.
To celebrate the success of ‘Poetic Surds’, Ark Evelyn Grace Academy was honoured to be chosen by Micah to host a special book launch for the debut of her first book on Wednesday 8th February 2017. The book launch was well attended by Micah’s family, friends, school and local community.

Devon Hanson, Principal, Ark Evelyn Grace Academy said: “As a school we are extremely proud of Micah. She has utilised every opportunity on offer here within the academy and produced an outstanding piece of literature that encourages, inspires and can be enjoyed by all. I remember the first time she asked me to read her work, I said ‘Micah you have a real talent here! Keep writing’. Ever since this, I am glad to say Micah has kept on writing. Micah shares her writing often with myself and other members of staff and we have encouraged her every step of the way. When Micah brought me a draft of her book I remember reading it and being completely blown away at how a young person could really convey such emotion through poetry in an eloquent way. She has done a phenomenal job with ‘Poetic Surds’. We wish her all the very best”
‘Poetic Surds’ is a journey of self-discovery and expression from a young woman who has learnt the power of self-love. A strong message is conveyed in each poem. One of hope and the notion that no matter what one goes through you are never alone. Through this book Micah touches on real life issues such as mental health, loss, self-perception and self-love.

Ms Williams-Swaby, PA to the Principal said "I am so proud of Micah on how far she has come from being a shy individual to having the confidence in writing her own book, to speaking with the press what an amazing and fabulous achievement thus far. It is an absolute pleasure and honour for me to organise her book launch, as I feel Micah deserved nothing less than the best.
The evening was hosted by Daniella Blechner, who really did a fantastic job engaging the crowd! Micah read some of her beautiful poems and shared lovely stories behind them. A wonderful performance from her brother and words of well wishes and encouragment from family, staff, students and the local community sealed the evening.
It was wonderful to see so much support for Micah and a love for her poetry.
One of the most significant and special parts of the evening was when Micah dedicated a poem to her mother, thanking her for all her support. It was truly something special.

Ms Forde, Micah's Mum said "I am so proud of Micah and everything that she has achieved. She has entertained family and friends with her writing for many years and we all felt that she was very talented. She has taught me that if you have a dream or goal and are determined to reach it you can achieve anything if you truly really believe in yourself. "
Another moment was when Micah gave her speach of thanks. She tributed her thanks to staff, her peers, family members and inspiring people she has meet throughout this journey of self discovery as an author (for example, Mr Alfred Samuels, Micah's role model from Urban Synergy - pictured below)
