We monitor our student’s planners every week and, when we see your signature, we know that we are supporting each other with your child’s education.
Year 9 Students visit Charlton Athletic Football Club as part of 'The Ultimate Pathway' Program
As part of 'The Ultimate Pathway' programme, Mr Morrissey (Head of Year 9), Mr Augustus (School Counsellor) and Mr Jabrane (Counsellor) took some of our Year 9 students to Charlton Athletic Football club. The Ulitmate Pathway programme is aimed at helping young people achieve and devlop through the power of sport. It was a successful visit in which our students where truly inspired.
Here is what Mr Morrissey had to say about the trip:
"On a visit to the training ground of Charlton Athletic football club with 19 year 9 students – I was astonished at the level of questioning and engagement they displayed. On the day they met different staff members from the football club and were advised on the grades and skills they needed to achieve their goals.
They were treated to words of wisdom from the Operations manager, Academy Secretary , Sports Psychologist, Lead Physio therapist , Player Liaison officer and a surprise visit from the CEO of the football club who spoke about the need to keep education at the heart of all they do .
Each speaker highlighted the need to give yourself choices in the future and to not limit themselves. Throughout the process the students were engaged , polite and impressed the staff with their level of questions and knowledge of current affairs – particularly when Jason asked the Physio “How would you of handled the situation that occurred at Chelsea last season between Jose Mourinho and his Physio which caused some controversy.”
Thank you to Charlton Athletic Football Club, Mr Morrissey, Mr Augustus and Mr Jabrane for facilitating this wonderful opportunity for our students.
