T-shirt triumph for our Princes' Trust students at PoP Brixton
As part of their module on 'Enterprise' our Year 10 Princes’ Trust students have been working with Spiral Skills to design and manufacture T-Shirts around the theme of Brixton as an inclusive community.
On Thursday 05th July 2019, our students were given stalls at PoP Brixton to sell their designs. We asked them to come up with slogans, names and selling tactics that they could use to sell their t-shirts. We also asked them to think about what Brixton means to them, and how they could get across the message of unity to the community.
It was a successful day. The community loved the t-shirts and it was wonderful to see our students interacting with customers and retailers alike.
Our students sold out of all their designs (some were sold to American Tourists even!). We are so proud of them!
Here is what some buyers had to say:
"Me and my girlfriend love the t-shirts the students created. They were incredibly passionate explaining how they came up with the ideas and the designs themselves. Hoping to see more of their work soon!"
"Evelyn Grace have super inspired me with their T Shirt designing and sale yesterday. The students were very welcoming and professional. Look forward to seeing more clothing from the students!"
“I’m really glad I came along. The young people I spoke to were friendly, informative and great at pitching for sales! Those are all brilliant and necessary attributes and skills for the job market. I hope they go far!”
"I'm really happy I got my T-Shirt and I was overwhelmed by how above and beyond the young people had gone to really make this work. From the designs, to the confidence in selling - if they had they're own pop-up-shop every week I wouldn't be surprised. And I will be wearing my t-shirt to my performance tonight so thank you to spiral and their young people!"
