St Saviours Primary School visit EGA to learn science with Mr Jegede

With the joint aim of bringing awareness to our academy and sparking curiosity towards STEM, our very own Mr Jegede (Science Teacher) organised a two part science lesson for Year 5 student's at St Saviours Primary School in Lambeth.

The initial lesson was taught at St Saviours. During which, Mr Jegede went through basic chemistry and familiarised the Year 5 students with some of the equipment that they would encounter at EGA.

The students first had to make a prediction on whether a tea candle is a better fuel than an alcohol. They then investigated this during their lesson at the academy. The success of the fuel was measured by how much it could heat a cup of water. After doing so, the Year 5's  finally did some calculations to work out the temperature rise and then drew a bar chart to show their findings.

They concluded the day by checking if their bar chart matched their prediction.

It was great to see all the students enagaged and enjoying science!

"Thank you so much! It was a great experience for the children, very inspiring...”
