Evelyn Grace observes two minutes silence in commemoration of remembrance day
(Photos by Bruno (Year 11), Mr Jabrane and Mr Rodrigues)
In honour of the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day (also known as Remembrance Day) all our students and staff came together in an act of respect and humility to remember the sacrifices, the displays of bravery and the lives of our armed forces personnel that fought in the First World War and died in the line of duty.
Highlights of the ceremony included:
- A momentus display of respect by the entire school as all stood together, lined up in single file
- An exhortation read by Hafeez from Year 11
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old, Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning. We will remember them.”
- Laying of the wreath by our principal, Mr Dainty and Tatiana (Y11, representing students)
- Followed by a whole school two minutes silence
It was a very moving occasion.
