EGA hosts Panathlon Challenge 2019
On Wednesday 23rd January 2018, we welcomed students from across the country to compete in this year’s Panathlon Challenge.
The Panathlon challenge is a competition which allows schools from across the country to take part in a 'mini Paralympic' multi sports competition.
On the day the competition included the following activities:
Boccia, New Age Kurling, Table Cricket, Polybat, Field Athletics and Relay Races
As hosts, our students were given the opportunity to be ambassadors for the day.
They facilitated each game and supported Mr Wingate (Head of PE at EGA) and Mr James Tinney (Panathlon Challenge) with the organisation of the day as well as ensuring that all our visitors enjoyed their time at the academy. Each ambassador worked really hard.
Jaydon from year 10 said:
“It is wonderful to have the opportunity to be of help and to see so many people enjoying themselves.
I volunteered to help today because I know how much I love playing sports here at EGA and I wanted to help others who may not have the same chances as me enjoy playing some of the sports I enjoy.”

It was great to see a friendly atmosphere of sportsmanship and competitiveness from all those who took part.
We had students from St Giles, Priory, Riddlesdown, Lansdowne, Turney, Conisborough and Brent Knoll, all representing their schools.
A special thank you to James Tinney from Panathlon, each represented school and their students and staff who attended; and also to Mr Wingate and each of our student ambassadors!
It was truly a wonderful day.
